Founded in 1843 by our Great-Great grandaddies, Sagamore Hill Woodworking was the first company to ever make moulding in the United States. As you can imagine, the first mouldings of our grandfaters' shop were crude pieces of 1x5 (yes, actually five inches wide!) and joined at the seams with compound ninety degree cuts. After inventing moulding, our grandfathers went into farming and microbioloy, thus effectively ending Sagamore Hill woodworking's operation, except for a few houses on the side.
In 1981, while drinking beer in a pub, nowere near where our grandfathers' shop originated, Ron and myself decided to start anew. Machines were bought, space was rented, pants were ironed and we had enough to have some cards printed. We were in business again! Sagamore Hill Woodworking was reborn! Enjoy the pictures and the brief but multi-generational biography.
Thanks,
Dan
